Wanting leaders for a TB-free world

Drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) is a major contributor to antimicrobial resistance worldwide and continues to be a public health crisis. Globally, around a quarter of deaths caused by antimicrobial resistance are due to rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis which includes multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (defined as combined resistance to rifampicin and isoniazid).

More than 60 participants enrolled in the workshop from various disciplines including faculties, post-graduate, and undergraduate students.

The activity highlighted the importance of biomedical research in animals and the objectives of CPCSEA guidelines for animal experimentation. The students will be benefited from this workshop and hands on training.

Drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) is a major contributor to antimicrobial resistance worldwide and continues to be a public health crisis. Globally, around a quarter of deaths caused by antimicrobial resistance are due to rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis which includes multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (defined as combined resistance to rifampicin and isoniazid).  Inter departmental quiz competition on Tuberculosis (TB): Wanting leaders for a TB-free world “was organized by “Association for safe medication” and “Institution’s innovation Council” under the aegis of SGT College of Pharmacy, SGT University, Gurugram on 28 th  February 2023, D-Block to create  awareness among students about tuberculosis, diagnosis, prevention and treatment in high burdened countries.  The event was convened by Prof (Dr) Vijay Bhalla, Dean SGTCOP and coordinated by advisors Prof (Dr.) Sushma Chaturvedi, Dr Vaibhav Walia, IIC SGT University coordinators Dr. Md Sabir Alam and Dr. Poonam Arora, co-advisors Dr Ritu Mishra, Dr Shweta Mishra. Prof (Dr) Vijay Bhalla provided an overview of tuberculosis, challenges associated with multidrug resistance tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and rationale of combination therapy in TB. Students from different departments of SGT university participated in the quiz. Team from the faculty of Indian medical system comprising of Ms. Asha, Ms. Chaaya, Ms. Sudeepa, and Ms. Preeti were the winners of the quiz. The event was greatly appreciated by all the participants.
