Induction Programme- August 2018

Day-1:
Wednesday,
August 1st 2018

INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR B PHARMAY & D PHARMACY 1ST YEAR STUDENTS:

The day began with welcoming all the new students with Tilak ceremony by the faculty members and students with a piece of sweets.

The ceremony began with lightening the auspicious lamp by Dean, Faculty members, Staff and Youngest students.
Dr Vijay Bhalla in his address inducted the students with Dashmesh Educational Trust, SGT University and Management of SGT University, their Vision, Mission and Core Values. Dr Bhalla also stressed on the importance of 100 % Attendance, WEARING Uniform every day, not damaging University property, maintaining discipline of all types and reposting any incidence of ragging if any.

Then each faculty member had introduced themselves with their area of specialization. Later every student was called on the dais to introduce themselves.

Post lunch Ms Tripti Arora presented the subjects, curriculum and scope of studying Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Ms Kavita Attri updated them on the scope and career after mastering Pharmaceutics. Mr Dheeraj Sharma explained the students on the various opportunities in the fields of Pharmacology and Pharmacy practice. The deliberations by Dr Mohd. Nasar Mallick highlighted the lots and lots of opportunities in the areas of Herbal Drug Technology and Pharmacognosy.
Students were handed over a book on career opportunities in Pharmacy Practice and a Handbook comprising SGT university norms and syllabus.

Day-2:
Thursday,
August 2nd 2018

The day two of the Induction programme began with the presentation by Dr. Neelam Vashist, on the very important segment on University ordinance, Attendance, Course Curriculum, Syllabi, Learning objectives, Domains, Assessment Parameters, Teaching Methodologies, schemes of examinations and promotion scheme.

Then the students were addressed by Honourable Vice Chancellor of SGT University. In his deliberation Shri Balvinder Kumar , VC SGT University advised students to have at least one passion, Tech Savvy , remove apprehension and fear of failure and dream big

Later Shri Mukesh Sinha, Advisor cum Director Technical, Win Medicare private Limitedaddressed the students and discussed about various career options before the Pharmacy professionals.

Mr. Vinod Gahlot informed all the students through his presentation about the Code of conduct, Discipline norms, Feedback mechanism, Mentor-Mentee policy of the university, Class teachers and batch in-charges, parent teacher interactions and meetings and reporting techniques.

A group of experts from Department of Psychology, SGT University was also interacted with students. They presented various concepts of social, economical, physical and mental health. Additionally the group members have carried out a mental health test on fresher students and proposed the concept of peer mentors among the students, in order to develop problem solving efficiency.
On day 3, the session started with the cheerful and vibrant interaction of fresher students with the team came from Department of Communication and Linguistics that consists of energetic personalities like Dr. Pabla, Dr. Sarju and Dr. Abhilasha. They guided the students about the importance of right and proper communication with perfect words. They have introduced the Eng-Wing and its unique features to the students. They emphasized that new comer students could also enhance their communication skill by joining Eng-Wing and becoming a part of communication lab.

In continuation Mr. Rahul Chopra from Department of CRC presented various aspects of CRC cell, recruitments and importance of self presentation during interviews. He also delivered a brief lecture on how to prepare Curriculum Vitae and what should be the genuine content of Curriculum Vitae.

Prof. Sham Singla, Pro- Chancellor SGT University also interacted and presented excellent thoughts to imbibe good culture and moral values in the students. He guided the students on value of time, money and provided facilities. Dr. Kamlesh Kohli, Director Health Sciences, SGT University was also present during induction program. She informed about various rules and nomenclature of the university. She presented here welcome greetings and all the luck to the students.

The next Lecture was delivered by Ms. Tripti Arora on Learning Management System, ERP and Digital Campus, in which she guided the students about how to manage their ERP accounts and to deal with it.

Dr. Ravi Malhotra, delivered a talk on Forecasted Demand of Skilled Professional in field of Pharmacy. In his presentation he mentioned about the current scenario of Pharmaceutical Sector and Pharmaceutical Business at National and International Level.

After lunch a Quiz Competition was organized for fresher students, which was managed by Dr. Vijay Sharma and Mr. Dheeraj Sharma. During quiz completion all the gathered students were divided into 5 teams and were exposed to questions related to science, general knowledge, films, sports and English language. All the students have actively and enthusiastically participated in the event.

Day-3:
Friday,
August 3rd 2018

Day-4:
Saturday,
August 4th 2018

In the starting of Day 4, Ms. Soniya Yadav had introduced about various activities held in the university during festivals like – Diwali Mahotsav, Holi Mahotsav and visits of Bollywood Stars like – Shahrukh Khan, Alia Bhatt etc. She also motivated the students to participate in such activity to explore the talent. Additionally Ms. Divya Upaddhyay delivered a talk on promotional activities in the university and their role in overall development of the students.

Dr. Nitin Mittal has introduced about Centre of Excellence in the university and their core details with their specific functions and importance. He also which explore about the infrastructure of advance laboratories, equipments and software. He mentioned that all these facilities would be definitely of great help to the students to manage the effective learning. Mr. Manish Yadav delivered a lecture on various advance teaching methodology and another efficient modes to make learning easy. He encouraged the students to participate in class/group discussions during teaching programs. Ms. Shushma Maratha guided the students about the rules and regulations of the university campus and hostel. She presented a detail account on Do’s and Don’ts to the students to get aware of any problem that may rise in future, in case of not being abided by the rules.

Mr. Neeraj Sharma, interacted with students to make them aware about the proper handling of ERP System while filling of examination form, to check the attendance and other important/official activities on their personal account. He also guided the students that how to trace your performance on personal account. Furthermore, Head Librarian had introduced about e-learning resources, digital library through ERP system and facilities provided by the library to the students.

Post lunch, the students were taken to various departments in five different batches by their respective faculty members. They were taken to Pharmaceutical Chemistry labs and central instrumentation facilities on the lower ground floor, Pharmaceutics labs cum Machine room on the ground floor, Pharmacology, Pharmacy practice and Pharmacognosy labs on the Third floor. The students also had visited of Library facilities, Class rooms and staff room.
